Etsy Listing Video Requirements: Length and Size
Etsy listing video requirements from Help, checked October 28, 2026: 3–15 seconds on the video page, 5–15 seconds on the listing page, 100 MB, and no audio after upload.
As of October 28, 2026, Etsy’s How to Add Listing Videos page sets these limits: 3–15 seconds, up to 100 MB, and the file types MP4, MOV, FLV, AAC, AVI, 3GP, and MPEG. The minimum resolution is 500px, and the ideal is at least 1080px. The aspect ratio should be “2:1 or 1:2”. The video will not contain any audio once uploaded, and you can add up to 2 videos per listing.
This page is compiled from Etsy Help pages checked October 28, 2026. We did not upload test listings. How to Create a Listing states the length as 5–15 seconds. The next section puts both lines side by side.

A length that fits both pages
A length of 5 to 15 seconds sits inside the 3–15 second line and inside the 5–15 second line. That is the safe choice. A 3-second or 4-second file matches the English (United States) video article and misses How to Create a Listing.
The German video article sets the minimum at 5 seconds. “Dein Video kann 5 bis 15 Sekunden lang sein” reads, in English, as “your video can be 5 to 15 seconds long.” The same page still allows two videos: “Du kannst pro Artikel bis zu zwei Videos hinzufügen.”
Some older guides say one video; Etsy’s current page says up to 2.
Frame sizes at 1080px
Etsy’s video page says the ideal resolution is at least 1080px, and the aspect ratio should be “2:1 or 1:2”, as of October 28, 2026. The page does not name which edge the pixel figure is measured on. The frames below keep every edge at or above the figure, so the file meets that line either way.

2:1 vs 16:9 phone video
A 16:9 phone frame with a 1080px height is 1920 × 1080. Divide 16 by 9 and the ratio is about 1.78:1. The written 2:1 frame at that same height is 2160 × 1080, which is 240 pixels wider than 1920.
A 9:16 phone frame with a 1080px width is 1080 × 1920. Divide 9 by 16 and the ratio is 0.5625:1. The written 1:2 frame at that same width is 1080 × 2160, which is 240 pixels taller than 1920.
The video page says: “No matter what kind of device you use to record your video, it’ll most likely already be in a format that is accepted by the video tool.”
100 MB as a bitrate
The maximum size on the video Help page is 100 MB, as of October 28, 2026. Spread across 15 seconds, that cap is an average bitrate.
100 × 8 = 800 Mbit. Then 800 ÷ 15 = 160 ÷ 3 = 53.333… Mbit/s, about 53 Mbit/s. A 15-second file reaches 100 MB only when the average rate for the whole clip is about 53 Mbit/s. At 5 seconds the same 100 MB is 800 ÷ 5 = 160 Mbit/s, so a shorter clip fills the cap only at a higher average.
File formats and sound
The video Help page lists these file types, as of October 28, 2026: MP4, MOV, FLV, AAC, AVI, 3GP, and MPEG. AAC appears in the list even though it is an audio format.
The following sentence says the video “will not contain any audio once uploaded to your listing.” Captions or on-screen text have to carry anything that would have been spoken.
Add a video on the web or in the Seller app

On Etsy.com:
- Select the Shop Manager icon.
- Select Listings.
- Choose the listing, or create a new listing.
- Go to Photo and video.
- Drag and drop the files, or select Upload and choose the short listing videos.
In the Etsy Seller app:
- Select Listings.
- Choose the listing.
- Select Listing to see the listing details.
- Select the plus sign under Photo and video, or select View all, then Add a video.
- Choose the short listing videos.
To delete a video, select that video and select the trash can icon.

FAQ
Is 1920 by 1080 the same as Etsy’s 2:1 ratio?
1920 × 1080 is a 16:9 frame, about 1.78:1. Etsy writes the aspect ratio as “2:1 or 1:2”. A 2:1 frame at a 1080px height is 2160 × 1080, which is 240 pixels wider than 1920. The same Help page says most device recordings are already in a format the video tool accepts.
How do you show words if the listing video has no audio?
Etsy says the video will not contain any audio once uploaded, so a spoken line has to be written on the screen as a caption or a label.
Match both length lines when you export
Before you export, check both Help pages (checked October 28, 2026). Use 5–15 seconds so the length matches the video article and the create-listing article. Keep the file under 100 MB, put any words on screen, and stop at 2 videos. The ideal resolution on the video page is at least 1080px, and the written ratio is “2:1 or 1:2”.
